I added two characters to
Bellica today: Anita and Leala. I suddenly realized that the East Campaign needed the Third Regiment too, so I needed to make up a bellica-major(a) team. Hence, Anita and Leala. Bellica and Majora and lovers.
I also learned a new word for lesbianism: tribadism. It technically refers to lesbians who simulate hetero intercourse, but I'm not making that distinction in my use of it in my novel, because words change over time, and this novel is set on a planet thousands of years after humans have colonized it. I.e., I'm a spec-fic author and can change words to fit my will, so tough shit if you have a problem with it.
Anyway. I'm happy with my character addition (especially as it added almost 800 words) and the new vocabulary. I'm also happy that I'm over 70K words with my
Bellica, making it my biggest novel so far.
Not that I want
The Man of Bronze to be big; it has to be under 40K to be eligible for
Writers of the Future. I'm entering in the Sept 30 deadline; June 30 is way too close for me to be able to enter an actual story and not just a bunch of sentences strung together with no apparent consistency.
Islands of Fire and Water is on the back burner for now; I need to give it time to fester in my mind. Meanwhile I've got some bitching stuff planned for
Bellica and
The Man of Bronze, so it's an exciting time for me. I'll be a published author by this time next year. I'm sure of it.
